birth story part 2

Matthew-3days old

With ceasarean, the recovery is always a concern. And different people had told me different experiance about their post op recovery. Anyway, this is my account.
I have very limited pain threshold, so, my advice will be, to take everything you're given to cope with pain. They won't give you something that will affect the baby, so just take this pills!
Right after the operation, i was placed in the recovery room for 30 mins to check my vital signs and so on. I was given a shot of something ( which i was told, is to help me cope with the pain while the spinal block was wearing off ). after that, I was being wheeled to my ward to be reunited with baby, and was given 1 Endone ( a type of morphine in pill form). When the spinal block finally wear off, my tummy felt a bit like period pain, as in, dull ache kind of pain. It wasn't hard to cope because i was too occupied with baby and breastfeeding and my body was still full of adrenaline. At about 8pm, the midwives came and give me a scrub down. Panadol and voltaren were given as pain relief for the night. I remember i rate my pain score as 3. so not too bad at all. All ceaser mum get a good night sleep while baby was being cared for in the nursery for the first night.
The next day, the nurse came and remove my pressure bandage, and catheter, and i was again given Endone to help me get out of bed. The scariest part is the first out of bed experience. Actually, it wasn't really that painful at all, it felt like those muscle ache after you did 100 sit up.
I took a shower right after that with the help of the nurse, and feel so good and refreshed. No more sexy hospital gown, and i'm allowed to wear my own clothes. I was told to walk around for 10 mins before returning to my bed. By that afternoon, I can get out of my bed without the help of anyone, and walk around slowly, and caring and nursing my baby. My choice of pain relief are still panadol and voltaren. My OB came and see me and asked me how long do i wish to stay in the hospital because if i wish to, i could leave the next day. But I've asked to stay for the entire 6 days so i could learn how to properly breastfeed and looking after my newborn. He agreed, and asked for my dressing to be taken out on the 5th day. When the dressing is out, i was left with a very very faint line. Not much of a scar and no bruising.
that's pretty much sum it all up. overall, i had a very wonderful and enjoyable birthing experience.
Motherhood however, it's another story for another time. Right now, I'm just taking it slowly one day at a time.

Happy new year to all my fellow readers. Tomorrow is a brand new year for me, and my entire world have gotten a lot smaller. I can hardly see or remember anything other than what time i feed, what time he sleep, pee and poo. There will be lots of things to learn and lots of mistakes to make, but that's ok. Matthew Emmanuel is here now, and we will take baby steps together.
i hope.

I'm so glad that you're recovering well from the C-sect. It doesn't sound hard or traumatic at all!! Show me the fine line on your tummy when I come over and visit!

p/s: love this photo so much. has the lady came to take the newborn photo yet?
