last stretch of the race!

Went to see OB last Friday. A few good things and one not so good.
Good thing is that i'm now on my last 10 weeks, and baby is growing well, 1.4kg. If i fit into the growth chart, by 40 weeks, bub will weight about 3.4kg! Good weight, but i just cannot imagine my tummy grow double in sized anymore! I'm now 54kg, all in all i have already put on 8kg in the 7 month! Oh dear! all other blood work is fine except for my glucose level. which i have been quite worry about for the past few weeks cos i know I'm up for no good in the sugar test. First of all, we Asian have 10% increase chances of getting gestational diabetes, and with family history, that set me back to a 40% chances of getting GD. So i have always been worried about it since the beginning and that is why i did a glucose test back when i was 12 week. And the result then were great, 4.6. And now at 29 week, my glucose level have increase to 8!! The cut off level is 7.7, which means i need to do a proper diabetes testing.
Diabetes testing is no fun.
First, you have to eat a lot of carb for 3 days.
and then you need to fast for 12 hours before you went to the pathology lab for testing.
I did not know i need to book for this test, so after 3 days of carb and fasting since last night, i went this morning, and was initially told i was not booked in so need to come back! What?!! But thank god that they only have one other person doing that test this morning, so they can squeeze me in.
Before they do anything to you, you need to pee in a little plastic thingy and they will dip the test stick in to see if there were sugar in the urine or not. negative for me, so it's OK to do the test.
Firstly, they took your blood
Then, they give you a super duper sweet drink and you have to finish the drink within 5 mins. It is a 75g glucose drink, and taste a bit like a very bad quality lemonade. and i was told to sit there and read or spaced out and not to walk around. toilet trip is OK. Baby was having a party inside cos sugar sugar you know?! anyway, not so fun for mama though.
After an hour, they will take your blood again.
and after another hour, they will take your blood again.
3 times all together from the same hand, or vein i guess. so looking fwd to a bruise now.
anyway, i hope this test would turn up OK, and i can escape my genetic make up to enjoy the rest of my pregnancy. I'll definitely keep posting when result return.

Last friday after OB appointment though, we went to this once in a year time Sydney noodle night market. Since i was put on a high carb diet so noodle it is! There were SOOO many people, and this stall is soooo misleading! Mamak Village, i thought it was THE Mamak!! ( a famous malaysian restaurant in sydney). Anyway, we even queue in and bought a roti canai ( AUD6!!! ) and a roti telur ( AUD8 !!!!).

Expensive canai -- but what to do?! Cravings!

Anyway, right after we bought the canai, we discover the line for THE Mamak! Long eh! It gets longer later on. SO i quickly join the queue and order a mee goreng. And i am quite pissed because the roti telur is only AUD 7 !!! Honestly, how can Mamak village and Mamak selling the same kind of stuff??!! Miss-leading man!!

So this is what we end up having--the best mee goreng, japanese okonomiyaki ( OK lar ), and not very nice Gozleme.

Tonight is an excited one. We're going to our first of the 5 prenatal class in the hospital. Hopefully, i'll get some good stories to blog about later.
