Back to blogging?!!

I've been away for far too long to even remember my own url.
Honestly, so much have changed and so much to blog I don't even know how to begin.
I shall start with, I QUIT MY JOB.
Yeap.
It was back in May when i finally make this huge decision, to be a full time stay at home mother to my almost 2 year old boy. It was not a hard decision to make, but it was quite shocking as to many, it was very unexpected. The truth is, I really wanted to spent as much time as I can with my little guy. He grow up way too fast.

That said, it's not always sweet and rosy at home. There were some good days ( many ), but also a lot of bad days. Staying at home with someone 24/7 who I can barely communicate with at first,  and almost fully rely on me can be very lonely, demanding, and sweet. Sweet that someone rely on me so completely, sweet that I get to be there to witeness every single one of his developments, from his first step, to his first words, and now his first sentences. It's so rewarding, and I would not want to trade anything for them.

Our days are packed with activities from Monday to Friday. Raising a little toddler definitely forced me to be an outdoor person more.  He enjoyed the great outdoor, be it the park, local library, mother group, soccer class, gymbaroo, or just chilled out with me at the cafe down the road. To be honest I have never drive so much compare to before, and we even bought a second car earlier this year so that I can go out and about with him without negotiating with the husband about the used of car! It's been a challenging and yet joyous few months, and I really hope I get to blog more often about our little daily life.

Here are some most recent pics of my little guy, growing up so fast i wished i could freeze the time!

on the 12/12/12 at 12...

 nothing exciting happen.
But, on the 8/12/12 at 12 we went to a wildlife park at Standwell top and it was awesome!!!
It was our last weekend with our nanny, and after many days of wild wind and rain, the weather was   perfect our little outing.

Manny with nanny trying to pat the koala...

The Symbio Wifelife Park is just less than an hour drive from us. It was relatively smaller, but you can get very close and personal with some of the animals. We really like the relax and laid back vibe.
We spent a lot of time with wallabies, feed them, pat them, and manny even manage to pluck out their fur! Silly Manny!!

There was also a Sumatran tiger behind this bamboos!! But it was a rather hot day and he decided to hide away somewhere..so we didn't really have a closed up wtih Raa Raa!! ( yeap, we tend to speak in cartoon language nowadays!! )

Manny really enjoyed himself, and i really hope he will grow up loving animals!

He met Billy the goat, finally.

After that, we took a drive to the moutain top, and enjoy this spectacular view. Shame we didn't have much time as the little boy was very tired, or else we may even go for a dip in the water.

Oh, and not to forget out very delicious luncheon at the Palm Cafe. We had our all time fav, the pull pork bun while the nanny enjoyed Australian blue swimmer crab tart.

It was a beautiful last weekend together, and it's a bit sad to bit her farwell on monday. She have been a terrific carer to manny, and although sometime there were some tiny friction from living together, she does love manny dearly and I was able to fully trust her with him. I am still trying to juggle being a full time mom during this holiday season, and trying to do everything on my own. So far, i enjoyed every minute of it and manny have been quite well behaved. and i even have the time to blog :P

Oops, and he is up! and I gotta go!

Here comes december...

It's been like..forever since my last entry! I have certainly being kept busy by my little man, who are growing up really fast, and are turning one in less than 20 days!!! Time certainly flies when we have fun.
We are blessed enough to have a nanny to help taking care of manny for the past 6 months. I won't say i enjoy every minute of living with a complete stranger, but I am definately grateful for her because her love for my little son was sincere and pure. And she definately help me kept my insanity when things get out of control at home sometime. Husband and i get to duck out from time to time to enjoy some date time, watch a movie, enjoy a dinner, or go for a swim etc, which was very important to maintain the balance with having a little extra person in our life and marriage. Sadly, she will be leaving us next week, and i'll be spending my holiday being a  fulltime mommy to my little boy.
So we decided to treat her for a ferry ride and enjoy the fantastic view of Sydney.

The weather was perfect and since manny was an early riser, we manage to enjoy everything before the weather gets really really warm. It was the first time he took a ferry, and he quite enjoyed himself, especially with the seagulls coming very close to him to say hello.

aren't we cool with our sunnies on?

My almost 1 year old!

It's hard to imagine around the this same time last year i was anticipating the birth of manny, and now, look at him, he is learning to say a few simple words, learning to walk, love to laugh, cheeky, push his boundaries, etc etc. I love him every minute of the day although he does drives me crazy sometime. It's true that motherhood changes you, but not all the changes are wonderful. For the past 12 months, our quiet, tranquill life have been turn upside down by the arrival of this little christmas gift from God. Here are some of the list of stuff that goes on for the past 12 months:

1. Forget about the weekend sleep in, count ourself blessed if we can sleep until 6am undisturb!
2. I seldom shop for myself anymore, it's just weird that whenever we're out, we're always in the baby aile while doing grocery shopping or baby shop when are out and about.
3. channel 22 ( children programme ), is always on now, and we know a lot of those silly characters which i never understand why kids loves..
4. we tend to talk in a high pitch silly voices
5. travelling light is such a foreign word
6. dinner at 5 or the latest 6, and we dined really fast when out and about.
7. bedtime by 8 or 9, and our whole house become quite pretty much after 730
8. we eatch TV with subtitile, muted or with headphones
9. we're always late to everything, and No, we're not sorry.
10. luxury indulgence can be a simple as to be able to finish watching a movie in one go!

and of cos, the list goes on, but I've also become very forgetful...so..until then. Have a great Summer.

Are you ready for babies?!

Today i read an interesting article on Essential baby and i really had a good laugh.
It's so very true, especially about the sleeping part. so decided to share it here with my fellow reader, especially the one whom recently got married...hahah. you know who you are!

Test 1: Preparation
Women: To prepare for pregnancy
1. Put on a dressing gown and stick a beanbag down the front.
2. Leave it there.
3. After nine months, remove 5 per cent of the beans.
Men: To prepare for children
1. Go to a local chemist, tip the contents of your wallet onto the counter and tell the pharmacist to help himself.
2. Go to the supermarket. Arrange to have your salary paid directly to their head office.
3. Go home. Pick up the newspaper and read it for the last time.
Test 2: Knowledge
Find a couple who are already parents and berate them about their methods of discipline, lack of patience, appallingly low tolerance levels and how they have allowed their children to run wild. Suggest ways in which they might improve their child's sleeping habits, toilet training, table manners and overall behaviour. Enjoy it; this will be the last time in your life that you will have all the answers.
Test 3: Nights
1. Walk around the living room from 5pm to 10pm carrying a wet bag weighing approximately 4-6kg, with a radio turned to static (or some other obnoxious sound) playing loudly.
2. At 10pm, put the bag down, set the alarm for midnight and go to sleep.
3. Get up at 11pm and walk the bag around the living room until 1am.4. Set the alarm for 3am.
5. As you can't get back to sleep, get up at 2am and make a cup of tea.
6. Go to bed at 2.45am.
7. Get up again at 3am when the alarm goes off.
8. Sing songs in the dark until 4am.
9. Put the alarm on for 5am. Get up when it goes off.
10. Make breakfast.
*Keep this up for 5 years. LOOK CHEERFUL.

Test 4: Dressing small children
1. Buy a live octopus and a string bag.
2. Attempt to put the octopus into the string bag so that no arms hangout.
*Time Allowed: 5 minutes
Test 5: Cars
1. Forget the BMW; buy a practical 5-door wagon.
2. Buy a chocolate ice cream cone and put it in the glove compartment. Leave it there.
3. Get a coin. Insert it into the CD player.
4. Take a box of chocolate biscuits; mash them into the back seat.
5. Run a garden rake along both sides of the car.
Test 6: Going for a walk
1. Wait.
2. Go out the front door.
3. Come back in again.
4. Go out.
5. Come back in again.
6. Go out again.
7. Walk down the front path.
8. Walk back up it.
9. Walk down it again.
10. Walk very slowly down the road for five minutes.
11. Stop, inspect minutely and ask at least six questions about every piece of used chewing gum, dirty tissue and dead insect along the way.
12. Retrace your steps.
13. Scream that you have had as much as you can stand until the neighbours come out and stare at you.
14. Give up and go back into the house.
*You are now just about ready to try taking a small child for a walk.
Test 7: Conversations with children
Repeat everything you say at least 5 times.
Test 8: Grocery shopping
1. Go to the local supermarket. Take with you the nearest thing you can find to a preschool child - a fully grown goat is excellent. If you intend to have more than one child, take more than one goat.
2. Buy your weekly groceries without letting the goat(s) out of your sight.
3. Pay for everything the goat eats or destroys.
*Until you can easily accomplish this, do not even contemplate having children.
Test 9: Feeding a 1-year-old
1. Hollow out a melon
2. Make a small hole in the side
3. Suspend the melon from the ceiling and swing it side to side
4. Now get a bowl of soggy cornflakes and attempt to spoon them into the swaying melon while pretending to be an aeroplane.
5. Continue until half the cornflakes are gone.
6. Tip the rest into your lap, making sure that a lot of it falls on the floor.
Test 10: Entertainment
1. Learn the names of every character from the Wiggles, Barney, Teletubbies and Disney.
2. Watch nothing else on television for at least 5 years.
Test 11: Mess
Can you stand the mess children make? To find out:
1. Smear peanut butter onto the sofa and jam onto the curtains.
2. Hide a fish behind the stereo and leave it there all summer.
3. Stick your fingers in the flowerbeds and then rub them on clean walls. Cover the stains with crayon. How does that look?
4. Empty every drawer/cupboard/storage box in your house onto the floor and proceed with step 5.
5. Drag random items from one room to another room and leave them there.
Test 12: Long trips with toddlers
1. Make a recording of someone shouting 'Mummy' repeatedly. Important notes: no more than a 4-second delay between each 'Mummy'. Include occasional crescendo to the level of a supersonic jet.
2. Play this tape in your car, everywhere you go for the next 4 years.
*You are now ready to take a long trip with a toddler.
Test 13: Conversations
1. Start talking to an adult of your choice.
2. Have someone else continually tug on your shirt hem or shirt sleeve while playing the 'Mummy tape' listed above.
*You are now ready to have a conversation with an adult while there is a child in the room.
Test 14: Getting ready for work
1. Pick a day on which you have an important meeting.
2. Put on your finest work attire.
3. Take a cup of cream and put one cup of lemon juice in it.
4. Stir.
5. Dump half of it on your nice silk shirt.
6. Saturate a towel with the other half of the mixture.
7. Attempt to clean your shirt with the same saturated towel.
8. Do not change (you have no time).
9. Go directly to work.
You are now ready to have children. ENJOY!

shit happens

it's been a long time since i last updated my blog.
many things happen, wonderful ones, funny ones, and today, it's shitty one!

Honestly, since the baby arrived, i haven't been able to get a good night sleep. I have never been so sleep deprived my entire life! I wish there were a button where i can click and the baby would just go to sleep, i tried everything you name it, i've done and it and still, he pulls some real shit like last night. He broke the record of numbers of hours staying awake at night. Basically woke up from 10-2.30am!! And no matter what we do and don't do, he is just wide awake and pissed me off!

I wish he'll get better, I wish he'll sleep more, I wish he'll give me a break tonight.

end of rant.

JUST GO TO SLEEP NOW PLEASE!

on mothers group

In the beginning of the year, I was able to negotiate to work part time ( or job sharing ) position when i return work in July. And it was working out really well. I now work 3 days in week A and then 2 days in week B, so a total of 5 days in a fortnight. Which was really great cos i still get to go to my mothers group on Friday, and I will be going to the baby library starting from this coming Thursday! So looking fwd to it as i think it is so important to socialised manny with other bubs, as well as getting him stimulated with new toys, new songs and rhymes.
I really enjoyed going to my mother's group. There were about 15 of us, mostly first time mothers and there were also some experienced mommies. So it's really a great place to share experiances, tips, and a place to vent! And the most amazing thing is that most of these mothers were ( and still is ) professionals like dentist, accountants, marketing managers etc etc, and like me, they are all on maternity leave or working partime. And it's a norm to have crazy looking mothers with dark circle underneath the eyes with tracksuit coming in, so unlike Desperate housewife where everyone one is looking purrrrrfect, it's a really honest place and the support that i get from this place was really great. But of course, there were also some mothers with the perfect baby who never "get" how tired and frustrated we were, and that is OK too cos every baby is different and hopefully, one day, they will have a baby who turn their life upside down!! Haha evil me!

another thing that i learn in mother's group is that, all babies progress differently. Manny was the only baby who could turn at 4 months old. But one bub was able to sit unsupported at 5 months before he could turn, and one was able to crawl at 7 before he could sit! So it was really fun to see what your baby can do, and what i should expect etc etc. it's pretty fun to see the little crawler crawling around last week and i really hope manny can start soon too!

But right now, let's celebrate his first pearly white! Yes! One is out, finally, after many months of drooling!! And he have been quite shy to show off for camera. So, hopefully i can get a good pic soon. Until then, happy monday and have a great week!
